Our client is a leading gold mining company operating in West Africa, dedicated to sustainable and responsible mining practices. They are seeking an experienced Engineering and Maintenance Manager to join their team and contribute to the efficiency and productivity of their operation
Position Overview:
The Engineering and Maintenance Manager will oversee all engineering and maintenance activities at the gold mine. This role is critical in ensuring the optimal performance of mining equipment and infrastructure, leading a team of professionals to achieve operational excellence
- Maintenance Strategy Development: Create and implement maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
- Operational Coordination: Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless mine operations..
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all engineering and maintenance activities comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Budget Management: Prepare and manage the engineering and maintenance department’s budget.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Vendor Management: Liaise with suppliers and contractors for equipment procurement and maintenance services.
- Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management.
Qualifications/Certifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field). A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in engineering and maintenance within the mining industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of mining equipment, maintenance best practices, and proficiency in maintenance management software.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in mining.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Adaptability: Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and dynamic environment.
