We are supporting an established, publicly listed international mining company with the appointment of a Vice President Finance (VP Finance) based in London.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an accomplished finance professional with extensive experience in financial reporting, corporate finance, governance, treasury, and financial management within an international, publicly listed organisation.

The successful candidate will work closely with the CFO, CEO, Board of Directors, and wider executive leadership team, providing financial oversight, strategic insight, and leadership across the Group’s financial operations.

This position requires an individual who can combine strong technical financial expertise with commercial judgement, strategic thinking, and the ability to operate confidently at Board level, while supporting the company’s continued growth and long-term objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior financial leadership and oversight across the Group’s corporate finance, financial reporting, accounting, treasury, and financial control functions.
  • Work closely with the CFO to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company’s operational objectives, growth plans, and long-term business strategy.
  • Lead the preparation, consolidation, and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual Group financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with the financial reporting, disclosure, and governance requirements applicable to a publicly listed international business.
  • Oversee the preparation and coordination of stock exchange filings, annual reports, financial disclosures, and other regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Support the CFO in preparing financial presentations, analysis, and reporting for the Board of Directors, Audit Committee, and executive leadership team.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, financial advisers, banks, regulators, and other key financial stakeholders.
  • Lead Group budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance analysis, ensuring financial information supports informed commercial and strategic decisions.
  • Oversee Group treasury activities, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, banking relationships, financial risk, and capital allocation.
  • Support corporate financing initiatives, debt facilities, equity transactions, and broader capital-raising activities where required.
  • Provide financial leadership and analytical support for mergers, acquisitions, investments, divestments, and other corporate development opportunities.
  • Partner with operational and regional finance teams to ensure accurate reporting, financial accountability, and consistent application of Group financial policies.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls, financial governance frameworks, and risk management procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting processes, controls, and operational efficiency across the organisation.
  • Oversee the financial implications of major capital projects, investments, and business development initiatives.
  • Support investor relations activities through the preparation of financial information, presentations, and analysis for shareholders, analysts, and other external stakeholders.
  • Provide commercial and financial insight to the CEO, CFO, and senior management to support strategic decision-making.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop finance professionals, building a high-performing finance function capable of supporting the organisation’s future requirements.
  • Act as a trusted adviser and potential successor to the CFO, demonstrating the capability to assume broader executive financial leadership responsibilities.

Candidate Profile

  • Extensive senior finance leadership experience within an established, publicly listed mining, natural resources, energy, or other capital-intensive international business.
  • Proven experience operating at Group Financial Controller, Finance Director, VP Finance, Deputy CFO, or equivalent senior finance leadership level.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, consolidation, external audit, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance within a publicly listed company.
  • Demonstrated experience working with senior executives, Boards of Directors, and Audit Committees.
  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS and complex international Group accounting and consolidation requirements.
  • Experience overseeing finance functions across multiple jurisdictions, legal entities, and operating businesses.
  • Strong understanding of treasury management, corporate finance, financial planning, capital allocation, and financial risk management.
  • Experience supporting stock exchange reporting and disclosure obligations, preferably within a TSX, LSE, AIM, or other major international exchange-listed environment.
  • Ability to balance technical accounting requirements with commercial priorities and wider business objectives.
  • Experience supporting corporate transactions, capital raising, financing arrangements, or mergers and acquisitions would be advantageous.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence and credibility to engage effectively with the CFO, CEO, Board members, auditors, investors, and financial institutions.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams operating across multiple locations and jurisdictions.
  • Commercially astute, proactive, and comfortable challenging assumptions and providing independent financial advice.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, communication, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a dynamic international business environment with competing priorities and demanding reporting deadlines.

Ideal Background

The successful candidate may come from an established publicly listed mining company, international natural resources group, multinational capital-intensive business, or a senior finance leadership position within a listed corporate environment.

Experience progressing through senior financial reporting, Group Financial Controller, Finance Director, or Deputy CFO positions into broader strategic finance leadership would be particularly relevant.

Candidates who have operated within Canadian, UK, or internationally listed organisations, with direct exposure to complex Group consolidation, external reporting, Board and Audit Committee engagement, treasury, and corporate finance, will be of particular interest.

A background within the mining sector would be highly advantageous, particularly where the individual has supported businesses with international mining operations, significant capital expenditure programmes, complex corporate structures, and multiple reporting jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate will be someone who combines exceptional financial discipline with strong commercial instincts and the confidence to operate as a strategic partner to the CFO and CEO.

We are particularly interested in individuals who can look beyond financial reporting and compliance to provide meaningful commercial insight, support corporate development initiatives, and contribute directly to the company’s strategic direction.

This opportunity would suit an ambitious and accomplished finance leader who possesses the credentials, leadership capabilities, and judgement to progress into a CFO position.
