Overview
A major mining operation in West Africa is seeking an experienced Traffic Management Superintendent to take charge of journey management safety across a 140 km public route linking the mine to key logistics corridors. With over 60 heavy vehicles moving daily through active villages where pedestrians, children, livestock and motorcycles share the road, safety and security are not footnotes, they are the headline. This role will lead a comprehensive audit of road conditions, haulage practices and traffic controls, identifying risks and implementing practical, high impact improvements.
You will assess route integrity, driver behaviour, community interface risks, signage, speed management, convoy protocols and contractor compliance. Working closely with operations, security, HSE and community stakeholders, you will strengthen traffic management systems to protect people, assets and reputation. The goal is clear: safer roads, stronger controls and visible leadership on the ground.
The ideal candidate brings substantial mine site or heavy haulage experience, proven expertise in traffic risk assessments and audits, and a strong understanding of operating in remote or community sensitive environments. This is a 3 month FIFO assignment on a 4/2 roster, suited to a decisive safety leader ready to step in, steady the wheel and deliver measurable improvements from day one.
