This is a fantastic opportunity to lead mine planning activities in a dynamic, high-performance environment with a FIFO (6 weeks on / 3 weeks off) schedule and competitive market salary plus performance bonuses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Oversee Mine Plans: Create and manage both short- and long-term mine plans, ensuring they align with company objectives and production targets.
  • Optimize Production Strategies: Implement innovative strategies to enhance ore recovery, operational efficiency, and overall site productivity.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with geology, mining operations, and maintenance teams to align planning objectives and ensure smooth operation flows.
  • Monitor and Improve Mining Standards: Continuously assess mine designs and planning procedures, proposing adjustments to enhance safety and efficiency.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze production data to forecast trends, identify risks, and create actionable reports to guide management in decision-making.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all mining activities adhere to local regulations and environmental standards, focusing on safety and sustainability.
  • Mentor Junior Engineers: Provide guidance and support to junior planning engineers to foster skill development and encourage professional growth.

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years in mine planning within a gold mining environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan, or MineSight) and advanced data analysis skills.
  • Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to lead a team and communicate effectively across various departments and cultural contexts.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: A proactive approach to troubleshooting operational challenges and optimizing resources.
  • Safety-First Mindset: Strong commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.
